Respite care: The child stays with another resource foster care family to give other resource foster care parents a short break. This placement may be up to 7 days in length. Reimbursement rates are based on child's level of care.

Emergency resource care: This involves a child who must be removed immediately from his or her home. The child may be in your home up to 72 hours. Reimbursement rates up to $23 per day.

Satellite/Family: This most-common type of Resource Foster Care placing a child in your home until a permanent living arrangement can be achieved through reintegration, relative placement, adoption, or independent living. A child may be in your home from a few days to a year or more. Reimbursement rates up to $23.50 per day depending on your area.

Supportive Family Living: Children who have mental retardation or developmental disabilities. Reimbursement rates vary depending on type of care.

The average age of the child in your care can vary, anywhere from infancy to 18 years old. You can specify which age group you would like and don't worry - you are never under any obligation to accept a placement. There is currently a shortage of foster families willing to accept children between the ages of 12 and 18, a problem which TFI Family Services, Inc. is trying to resolve. These children need the same love and support as any other age group, and they deserve a stable home during their crucial adolescent years.

When accepting a child into your home, you will be given available detailed background information; short-term and/or long-term placement plans; and whenever possible, pre-placement visits are held prior to placement.
